Toyota Fortuner Maintenance Cost & PMS Schedule in the Philippines

Car Maintenance 8 min read

Quick Answer

In the most recent published casa price lists (2019–2023), a Toyota Fortuner PMS cost about ₱1,900–₱2,500 at 1,000 and 5,000 km, ₱3,000–₱8,100 between the big services, ₱7,100–₱11,600 at 20,000, 40,000 and 60,000 km, and up to ₱16,800 at 80,000 km. PMS is due every 5,000 km or 6 months, and the GD diesel adds more oil, a fuel filter and, on 4x4s, gear oil.

Toyota Fortuner maintenance cost runs higher than a sedan's, and the PMS bill is only part of it. Every Fortuner Toyota PH sells today is a 2.4 or 2.8 GD diesel, and the gas 2.7 was dropped in 2021, so most owners are paying for more engine oil per change, a fuel filter to watch, bigger tires and, on 4x4 units, extra gear oil. Here are the casa PMS prices Toyota has published per interval, the diesel extras to budget for, and how the warranty rules shape the casa-versus-talyer choice.

Which Fortuner You Have Changes the Bill

The current Fortuner generation arrived in the Philippines in 2016, and Toyota PH's lineup today is all diesel. The 2.4 G (manual or automatic) and the 2.4 V use the 2,393 cc 2GD-FTV, while the 2.8 Q, the 2.8 LTD in 4x2 or 4x4, and the GR-S 4x4 use the 2,755 cc 1GD-FTV. Only the 2.4 G is offered with a manual; every other grade is a six-speed automatic. Older units may also be the 2.7 gas G automatic, which Toyota discontinued in 2021.

For the PMS itself, the variant matters less than most owners expect. Toyota told CarGuide.PH in 2018 that it does not price Fortuner PMS by variant, and that the main engine-side difference is how much oil goes in. Where grades really split is hardware — the 2.4 G rides on 265/65 R17 tires, while the 2.4 V, 2.8 Q, LTD and GR-S wear 265/60 R18s. Among current grades, only the LTD 4x4 and GR-S are four-wheel drive (older 2.8 V 4x4 units too), which adds a front differential and a transfer case to look after.

Every current Fortuner has ventilated disc brakes front and rear, so both axles wear pads rather than drum shoes.

Toyota Fortuner PMS Schedule and Warranty Rules

Toyota Motor Philippines sets PMS for its non-hybrid models, the Fortuner included, at every 5,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first. The first visit is the 1,000 km or first-month check, followed by 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 km and so on. An owner doing 20,000 km a year between EDSA traffic and weekend provincial runs is looking at four visits a year; a low-mileage owner still goes twice a year because of the six-month limit. If waiting rooms are the problem, Toyota's Express Maintenance does a complete PMS in about an hour at the same price as a regular visit, booked through the myToyota app.

Those visits also protect the warranty. Units bought new from January 1, 2025 can qualify for Toyota's 5-Year Warranty: a 3-year or 100,000 km manufacturer warranty plus up to 2 years or 40,000 km of Service Loyalty coverage. Toyota says sticking to the recommended PMS interval keeps the manufacturer warranty compliant, and the loyalty extension depends on PMS history at authorized Toyota dealers or service centers. Skip those dealer visits and the extension can drop to limited coverage or not be granted at all.

Toyota promos have also bundled free PMS with new Fortuners. The January 2026 promo, for example, covered five visits from 1,000 to 20,000 km on every Fortuner variant except the GR-S, priced on Toyota mineral oil. A semi- or fully synthetic upgrade and any wear-and-tear parts were charged to the owner, and the package had to be used within 36 months of release. Check your free-PMS letter before paying for those early visits.

Fortuner PMS Cost per Interval at the Casa

Toyota PH's service pages do not publish PMS prices, so the most detailed Fortuner figures are the dealer price matrix Toyota Motor Philippines shared with Time Attack Manila in 2019 and Philkotse's Fortuner maintenance guide, last updated in 2023. Both appear in the table below. Philkotse notes that its prices include 12 percent VAT and cover parts and labor only, not materials or consumables.

The pattern is more useful than any single number. The 1,000 and 5,000 km visits are the cheapest at about ₱1,900–₱2,500. Most in-between visits sat at ₱3,000–₱5,700 in the 2019 matrix, although it priced the 25,000, 45,000 and 65,000 km visits higher at ₱7,600–₱8,100. The 20,000, 40,000 and 60,000 km services jump to roughly ₱7,100–₱11,600, and the 80,000 km service is the most expensive in both sources at about ₱11,800–₱16,800. Ask the service advisor for the itemized job list before any of the bigger visits.

For a yearly budget, Philkotse estimates ₱13,900–₱27,900 for the first year and ₱19,500–₱35,500 a year after that. CarGuide.PH, working from Toyota's own figures in 2018, put five years or 100,000 km of Fortuner PMS at ₱96,824, under a peso per kilometer. Every figure here predates 2024, so use them as a baseline and get a written quote from your dealer before each major service.

Diesel and 4x4 Costs a Sedan Owner Never Sees

Oil volume is the first difference. Toyota told CarGuide.PH that its GD-series diesels take about 8 liters per oil change, against about 6 liters for the TR-series gas engine used in the old 2.7 Fortuner, so any upgrade to semi- or fully synthetic oil is multiplied across more liters. Check the exact refill figure in your owner's manual before buying oil for a DIY change.

The diesel fuel filter is the second. None of the Philippine sources we checked gives a Fortuner-specific interval, but TopGear Philippines' used-truck guide to the previous-generation Hilux linked most diesel pump complaints to contaminated fuel and recommended a new fuel filter roughly every 10,000 km. Philkotse's general guide prices a fuel filter at ₱600–₱1,200 plus about ₱300 labor at a shop. Ask your casa which PMS visits include it, and do not stretch it if you often fill up at unfamiliar stations on long provincial drives.

Four-wheel-drive units add gear oil. TopGear Philippines' fluids guide suggests changing differential oil about every 30,000 km, depending on how hard the vehicle is used, and a 4x4 Fortuner has a front differential and a transfer case on top of the rear axle. Tires, brakes and the battery round out the list; the table shows the figures we could verify.

Fortuner Issues and Recalls Worth Checking

TopGear Philippines' 2025 used-Fortuner guide flags a few things to check on this generation: rattling, clattering or vibration that can point to timing-chain trouble on the 2.8, clunks or instability from worn bushings or dampers, and early transmission glitches that Toyota sorted out within months of launch. It also notes that Philippine-spec units did not have the diesel particulate filter problems reported in Australia and New Zealand.

Two recalls are worth confirming with any Toyota dealer, and both were free: a fuel pump replacement for Fortuners built from October 28, 2017 to September 19, 2018 and from January 4 to June 20, 2019, and a brake vacuum hose fix for units built from August 16 to October 11, 2019. Toyota PH runs these through its Service Campaigns program, which covers qualifying inspections and repairs at no cost.

If you are buying a used Fortuner, ask for the service booklet and check that PMS was done on schedule, then have the 2.8's engine listened to on a cold start before you commit.

Casa or Talyer for Your Fortuner?

Even Time Attack Manila, which made the case for dealer servicing, acknowledged that the casa costs more than an independent shop. While your Fortuner is still under the 3-year manufacturer warranty or the Service Loyalty extension, the casa is the safer choice, because that extension is earned through PMS at authorized Toyota dealers or service centers.

Once the warranty is behind you, an independent shop that works on GD diesels regularly can handle oil, filters and gear oil for less. Ask for an itemized quote that states the oil grade and number of liters, whether the fuel filter is genuine, and whether the 4x4 gear oils are included, then compare it line by line with the casa's quote for the same interval. For injector or fuel pump work, go to a diesel-injection specialist rather than a general shop.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a Toyota Fortuner PMS in the Philippines?
In the latest published casa price lists (2019–2023), a Fortuner PMS cost about ₱1,900–₱2,500 at 1,000 and 5,000 km, roughly ₱3,000–₱8,100 for in-between visits, ₱7,100–₱11,600 at 20,000, 40,000 and 60,000 km, and up to ₱16,800 at 80,000 km. Confirm current prices with your dealer.
How often should a Toyota Fortuner have PMS?
Toyota Motor Philippines sets Fortuner PMS at every 5,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first, starting with a 1,000 km or first-month check. Keeping to that schedule at an authorized Toyota dealer also keeps units bought from 2025 eligible for the extra Service Loyalty warranty coverage.
Is the 2.8 Fortuner more expensive to maintain than the 2.4?
Not much on the PMS itself, since Toyota told CarGuide.PH it does not price Fortuner PMS by variant. The difference is hardware: the 2.4 V and every 2.8 use 265/60 R18 tires instead of the 2.4 G's 17-inch size, and the LTD 4x4 and GR-S add front differential and transfer-case oil.
Does a new Toyota Fortuner come with free PMS?
It depends on the promo when you bought it. Toyota's January 2026 offer covered five free visits from 1,000 to 20,000 km on all Fortuner variants except the GR-S, using mineral oil. Synthetic oil upgrades and wear parts were charged separately, and the package had to be used within 36 months.
How much engine oil does a diesel Fortuner take?
Toyota told CarGuide.PH that its GD-series diesels, used in the 2.4 and 2.8 Fortuner, take about 8 liters per oil change, versus about 6 liters for the old 2.7 gas engine. Check your owner's manual for the exact figure, and ask the shop to show oil grade and liters on the quote.
