Wash pricing scales with vehicle size. A quick exterior wash is the cheapest option, a full-service hand wash adds wheel cleaning and interior work, and an engine bay wash is quoted as an add-on on top of either.

Metro Manila — especially BGC and Makati — sits at the higher end. Provincial rates run 20 to 30 percent lower for comparable services.

Detailing is tiered by how much paint work is included, and every tier is priced by vehicle size. A basic detail covers a full exterior wash, clay bar decontamination, interior deep clean, and protective wax; a standard detail adds machine polish; and a premium detail includes full paint correction and a paint sealant.

Paint correction means using a machine polisher to remove swirl marks, light scratches, and oxidation from the clear coat. The result is paint that looks deeper and glossier than any wash can achieve. This should always be done before applying ceramic coating.

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds to the paint, creating a semi-permanent hydrophobic surface. It protects paint, adds gloss, and makes future washing significantly easier.

The price difference is real. A ₱1,500 ceramic coating at some shops is a spray wax with a 3-month lifespan — not a true ceramic coating. Real ceramic requires surface decontamination, paint correction, controlled application, and curing time. Always ask what brand and grade of coating is being applied.

PPF is a physical urethane film applied directly to painted surfaces, protecting against rock chips, minor scratches, and road debris. It differs from ceramic coating — PPF is a physical barrier while ceramic is a chemical bond. High-end builds often use both. Full hood only costs ₱8,000 to ₱18,000. Full front end covering hood, fenders, bumper, and mirrors costs ₱20,000 to ₱45,000. Full car PPF costs ₱80,000 to ₱180,000 or more depending on vehicle size and film quality.

PPF is especially popular on new vehicles driven on EDSA and SLEX where rock chips from trucks and buses are a constant hazard.

LTO regulates window tint darkness in the Philippines. The legal minimum VLT (visible light transmission) for front windshield and front side windows is 70 percent — minimal tint is allowed. Rear side windows and the rear windshield have no restriction. Basic dyed film lasting 1 to 2 years costs ₱2,500 to ₱5,000 for a full car. Carbon film lasting 3 to 5 years costs ₱5,000 to ₱10,000. Ceramic tint lasting 5 or more years with best heat rejection costs ₱10,000 to ₱25,000 or more.

Ceramic tint is the recommended choice for the Philippines. It blocks significantly more heat than carbon or dyed film — which matters in a country where car interiors reach 60 degrees or more in direct sun. It also does not interfere with GPS or mobile signals, unlike some metallic-based films.

Undercoating using rubberized spray on the undercarriage costs ₱3,000 to ₱8,000. Cavity wax injection into door panels, sills, and pillars costs ₱4,000 to ₱12,000. A combined undercoating and cavity treatment costs ₱8,000 to ₱18,000.

Rustproofing is especially valuable for cars in flood-prone Metro Manila areas, coastal provinces, and any vehicle regularly driven on roads that flood during typhoon season. The Philippines' humidity makes rustproofing a worthwhile investment even for cars that are not in flood zones.

Surface preparation is everything. A shop that applies ceramic coating immediately after a wash — skipping clay bar decontamination and paint correction — is wasting your money. The coating bonds to whatever is on the paint, including contamination and micro-scratches.

Ask what coating brand they use. Reputable shops use recognized brands such as IGL Coatings, Gyeon Quartz, Ceramic Pro, or Gtechniq. If a shop cannot name the brand and grade they use, the product is likely generic. Check their recent work — any credible detailing shop has before and after photos of actual completed jobs. Ask to see them. Price too good to be true means it probably is.
